APPROACH TO MAKING POTS
I mostly make functional pots, things people can use in their daily lives. This may take the shape of a cup or bowl for the dinner table, or a large slab container for flowers. Each pot is made individually by hand, thrown on the potters wheel or formed from slabs and coils. The possibilities open up each time I work in the studio, which is really a way of saying that inspiration comes through daily work.
I most enjoy working in series, making limited numbers of a form and then moving on to the next one. This way of working is efficient for production in the studio, but more than that, it allows me to explore a form and to hopefully come to new understandings.
